Iran and Italy are slated to make their first joint cinematic film production titled ‘Merchant of Venice’.

Iran and Italy are slated to make their first joint cinematic film production titled ‘Merchant of Venice’.

The production permit was issued on Wednesday by Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Co-produced by Iran’s Alireza Sajjadpour and Italy-based International Film S.R.L. Company, ‘Merchant of Venice’ will be written and directed by Saleh Deldam.

Founded in 1958, the S.R.L. Company is involved with the production of theatrical and nontheatrical motion pictures and video tapes.

The film will be made in the gangster comedy genre with a modern look at William Shakespeare’s masterpiece ‘Merchant of Venice’.

Since the film’s production is an international project, its decoration and setting requires enormous efforts and its pre-production stages will last almost six months.

Mohammad Tayyeb will also join the team as the international consultant of the film.
